There is a difference between the 'lore' from several years ago and now. So don't assume you know more about the story of 173 because you played a game based on it. The picture was later used as part of the first SCP creepypasta story by a 4chan user, people added and expabded, then started coming up with their own SCPs. They culminated in the original camera owner coming across an abandoned factory and climbing a ladder to the room and finding 'SCP-173'. Someone claimed to have found a camera in the woods and when the looked at the images they just looked like normal pictures (though several had small dark figures hidden in them). It was the last in a series of photographs. Hell, the picture of SCP-173 wasn't even made with it being an SCP at all. It was part of the original 'lore' back when SCPs were creepypasta threads on 4chan. 173 cannot move while someone has direct eye contact with it, period, hence the D-class dudes sent in to clean its containment pen being told to inform the others when they're about to blink so nobody blinks at the same time, keeping constant unbroken eye contact. SCP-173 can move when you're looking at it just fine, it just doesn't because it likes to toy with people I suppose.įlatout wrong there, dude.
